The Southeast ATTC is pleased to announce a Cultural Competency training to be held in Charleston, SC on June 26, 2009.

This training is designed to provide the clinician with the necessary knowledge base and skill set to engage in counseling with clients from diverse cultures. The participant will be asked to consider the reality of ethnocentrism and how it impacts the counseling process. Didactic information will be presented about several different cultural groups, and important tools for effective multicultural counseling will be explored. The participant will be given opportunity for self-discovery through experiential exercises and for questioning his/her own assumptions in a safe environment.

PAMI Training Announced for May 29, 2009
The Southeast ATTC will host a Promoting Awareness of Motivational Incentives (PAMI) training in Charleston, SC on May 29, 2009.

Research has shown that motivational incentive programs using low-cost reinforcement (prizes, vouchers, clinic privileges, etc.), delivered in conjunction with onsite urine screening promotes higher rates of treatment retention and abstinence from drug abuse. This Blending Team training focuses on informing the field about successful approaches in the use of motivational incentives (also referred to as contingency management).
